About Joseph Bauer
Joseph Bauer was born in Toledo, Ohio, and studied literature at the University of Toledo, where he served as editor-in-chief of the college newspaper. A retired international corporate attorney, Bauer practiced law for over 30 years, including at Jones Day and as chief legal officer of The Lubrizol Corporation.
Joseph Bauer’s latest novel, Sailing for Grace, won First Prize at the 2022 Atlanta Writers Conference and stands as his most socially resonant work to date. He is also the author of the Patriot trilogy, beginning with The Accidental Patriot (2020), praised for its compelling characters, pace, and research-driven suspense.
Bauer lives with his wife in Charleston, SC, where he does most of his writing- usually with his dog Emmy at his side. He is the father of three adult daughters and enjoys fly fishing and fly tying in his free time.
